Top 5 indoor play areas in London!

We love optimism at EncycloKidia, honest! That being said, occasionally living in the UK does provide us with a sense of resignation to the occasional summer’s day of torrential rain.. Everybody remembers those awful days as a kid when you’re off school and full of energy but can’t go out to play because of the rain. Thankfully there’s a little bit more to do these days, with exciting indoor play centres, full of educational resources and other fun stuff.  This is our round up of the best ones in London!

1 – Sobell Safari

Where– Sobell Leisure Centre, Hornsey Road, London N7 7NY

Timings– Mon: 10 am – 5 pm; Tue. Thurs, Fri: 10 am – 6 pm Wed: 11 am –  6 pm; Sat: 9:30am – 2:30pm; Sun: 9:30am – 3:30pm

Located in Hornsey Road, a short walk from Holloway Road tube station and the A1 if you’re driving, this centre is a great example of the old community leisure centres, before the major chains took over. It maintains a lot of its charm by catering very well to kids with the sold play Safari experience, with Mazes, tunnels and Slides.

Our little secret: If you get them tired out, you can treat yourself to one of the excellent eateries in the area. Try Xian Impressions on Benwell road or Dirty Burger/Chicken Shop on Holloway road

2 – Maggie and Rose

Where– Kensington, Club:, 58 Pembroke Road, Kensington, London W8 6NX

Timings–  Everyday: 09:00am – 07:00pm

One of the most beautiful childrens play areas in London, this does have a farmyard soft play, but also loads more creative play space and is well worth a visit. Good food and drinks for parents (including prosecco!), fantasy play environment for the kids, this is a far departure from the chilly community halls and bad sandwiches of times gone by.

Our little secret: Maggie and Rose are real people! They founded the place in 2007.

This one is great for your little dinosaur. It has a nice café along with an engaging themed soft play area and if your little one loves dinosaurs, you might have trouble getting them home.

4 – Eddie Katz

Where– Putney, 68 – 70 Putney High Street, 1st Floor, London SW15 1SF

Timings– Weekdays: 9:30am – 6:00pm; Sat: 9:30am – 6:00pm; Sun: 10:00am – 6:00pm

This one is great because they’ve put real thought into separating suitable sections of the place by age, which is sometimes neglected, especially if your little one gets nervous of older children. Loads of facilities and they offer great music and movement classes.

Our little secret: Get there for the football workshop on the sports pitch of Air Hockey events.
